AFTERCARE

TATTOO TLC:
How to care for your fresh tattoo

Proper tattoo aftercare not only prevents infection during the healing process, but it also contributes to the long-term quality of your tattoo and the surrounding skin. This is your ticket to ensuring your tattoo looks stunning for years to come. Here’s how:

DAY OF TATTOO

1

CLEAN HANDS!

Always wash your hands thoroughly before touching your fresh tattoo or applying moisturiser on it.

2

WASH GENTLY

Once you remove the initial plastic covering, gently wash the tattooed area with mild, unscented soap and warm water in a circular motion. Use only your hands—no washcloths or sponges—to avoid damage and irritation.

3

PAT DRY

Once cleaned, pat the tattoo dry with a clean, soft towel. No rubbing or scrubbing, please!

4

STAY HYDRATED

Apply a thin layer of tattoo-specific ointment or a fragrance-free moisturizer recommended by your artist. This will keep the tattoo hydrated and promote healing Be sure not to overdo it. A little goes a long way.

DURING HEALING

1

KEEP OUT OF THE SUN

Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight during the healing process. Sun exposure can fade the tattoo and increase the risk of complications.

2

AVOID SOAKING

Avoid swimming, soaking in a bathtub, or exposing your tattoo to excessive moisture for the first few weeks. This can cause the ink to fade and increase the risk of infection.

3

LOOSE & COMFY

Tight clothing can rub against your tattoo and cause irritation. Opt for loose, breathable clothing during the healing process.

4

DON'T PICK OR SCRATCH

It's normal for your tattoo to scab and itch as it heals, but resist the urge to pick or scratch at it. This can damage the tattoo and increase the risk of infection. Your new tattoo will take around 7-14 days to heal.

SOS

If you have any concerns or notice signs of infection such as excessive redness, swelling, or discharge, contact your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional for advice.

REMEMBER, EVERYONE'S BODY HEALS DIFFERENTLY.

Be patient and attentive to your tattoo's needs during the healing process.
